Coach Bob Knight’s name is going to be all over the news soon.
With his next win, Knight will become the first Division I men’s basketball coach ever to win 900 games.
Knight is a coaching genius. Just look at his record.
Knight also had his “moments” with emotional outbursts. Just look at YouTube.
The coach doesn’t have it all together. But, join the club, none of us do.
No one has it all together!
Knight knows the X’s and O’s of basketball as well as anyone.
He also has his own unique take on how to get players to perform.
Needless to say, Coach Knight is controversial.
I choose to focus on his greatness and genius.
Here are . . .
COACH BOB KNIGHT’S GREATEST QUOTES
The will to win is grossly overrated.
The will to prepare is far more important.
Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one.
Everyone wants to be on a winning team,
but no one wants to come to practice.
Everybody hears but few listen.
Learn to do things right
and then do them right
every time.
The key is not the will to win . . .
everybody has that.
It is the will to prepare to win that is important.
You don't play against opponents.
You play against the game of basketball.
You can win and still not succeed,
still not achieve what you should.
And you can lose without really failing at all.
We should not have to push you to work hard.
You should work hard because you want to be a great player.
It’s better to say you
won the championship game
than you played in it.
When a coach gets voted
into the Hall of Fame,
The honor really belongs
to all those who played for him.
P.S. I just can’t get this quote out of my mind . . .
Mental toughness is to physical as four is to one.
. . . as four is to one.
. . . as four is to one.
. . . as four is to one.
